My connection with Fort Bend County goes back many years. My father was raised in Rosenberg in the 1940s, a testament to our deep roots in the area. My wife, Dusti, and I have been married for 29 years, and we are proud parents of two children who have graduated from Texas A&M University and Sam Houston State University, respectively.
I have received awards from the United States District Attorney’s Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, numerous State of Texas Law Enforcement agencies, and Police Departments outside our State for outstanding criminal investigative work. My commitment to safety, justice, and community runs deep, and I am eager to lead and share my vision for a safer and more united Fort Bend County. Fort Bend County is a place where families and friends come together to ensure the quality of life and public safety. I believe in community-based policing, where law enforcement collaborates closely with residents, businesses, and local organizations to create strategies that combat crime in our county. Together, we can identify priorities and solutions that reflect our shared values.
With close to three decades of Law Enforcement experience, my career has uniquely prepared me for the role of Sheriff. My career began in 1995 with the Fort Bend County Adult Probation Department and continued in 1997 when I joined the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). After graduating from the Texas DPS State Police Academy, I held various positions with greater responsibility including Highway Patrol, Narcotics Sergeant, and Texas Ranger.
In August 2023, I retired with honor after more than 13 years of service from the most recognizable law enforcement division in our state – The Texas Rangers. My role as a Texas Ranger allowed me to collaborate with numerous law enforcement departments and District Attorney Offices both locally and nationally. I was involved in a wide range of criminal investigations including Public Integrity cases, Officer Involved Shootings, Custodial Deaths, Murders, and Felony Offenses against Persons. In addition to serving as the Texas Ranger in Fort Bend County, I was a member of the Texas Ranger Reconnaissance Team. As a member of this team, I worked with United States Customs and Border Protection, the Government of Mexico, and the Mexican Military to assist with securing our southern border.
